Robert J. Blattel, CFP®
As Founder of Blattel & Associates, I focus on maintaining relationships with our clients and providing insights to our team as a mentor. I founded this firm in order to help people from all walks of life achieve their financial goals so that they can live confidently in their financial futures. I am motivated by helping others and seeing them succeed, and I enjoy meeting different people in my career, hearing the stories of their lives, and watching their families grow and thrive.
I have proudly served in the financial services industry for over 40 years. I have always been self-employed, and I founded Blattel & Associates in 1977. Although the majority of my career has involved offering valuable financial knowledge and insight to my clients, I am now semi-retired, and my focus is currently on client relationships and sharing my knowledge with others. Prior to beginning my career in the financial services industry, I received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Missouri at St. Louis. Later in life, in order to further my expertise in financial services, I obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation in 1982. Most of the relationships I share with my clients are very personal, and I believe that they have allowed me to better understand my clients’ lives, goals, and needs.
Because I am committed to financial education, I not only strive to educate each client about the planning process and the impact of his or her individual decisions, but I have also hosted community financial seminars since 1979. I had the honor of teaching at Lindenwood College from 1979-1985, and I taught retirement planning at St. Charles Community College from 1990-2019. I am also an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), and in the past, I have served on the board of the Cottleville Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce, an organization of which I still participate in as a member.
I currently live in St. Charles, Missouri, with my wife, Chris, who has supported me in all of my endeavors. Together, we have four adult children and four grandchildren. We have also started the Holiday Magic Toy Drive, which has been providing toys for less fortunate children in our community for over twenty years. In my free time, I am a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and volunteer to entertain children, adults, and those with disabilities. I also review films for the St. Louis International Film Festival. I regularly enjoy learning about science and astronomy.
